Making Oxygen Therapy Visible: Join Karlene Haubrich, RN, BTech, for a practical Lunch & Learn session about the nursing role in oxygen therapy. Drawing on her work as a Canadian delegate to ISO/TC 121 standards development and a member of the Global Oxygen Alliance Community of Practice, Karlene will explore a draft Choosing Wisely recommendation on appropriate oxygen use, why oxygen therapy remains surprisingly poorly understood and why the work required to deliver it safely can be almost as invisible as the gas itself. She’ll introduce an oxygen training course currently being co-designed with nurses, and share how recognizing a simple bedside problem led to Conserve Tree™, a prototype medical device designed to make oxygen disconnections and respiratory rate more visible in acute care settings. Karlene welcomes questions about oxygen therapy, standards development, or medical device innovation.
